Nexon, home to the circus since 1986
It all began when Annie Fratellini, the great lady of the circus, settled in Nexon to create the École Nationale du Cirque Annie-Fratellini. The following summer, her caravan was set up in the château grounds, and with it, a new vision of the circus came to life! 🌟 Gone are the days when circus arts were passed down from family to family: now young people from all walks of life can learn about the circus arts and bring their own influences to bear. Summer courses have seen the emergence of talents who are now shining on stage and in the ring.🤹♂️ Little by little, Nexon has become a hotbed of circus creation in the Haute-Vienne, giving birth to a festival and then a permanent structure, now recognised as Le Sirque – Pôle National des Arts du Cirque. And the story goes on! Always in search of new aesthetics, original shows and passionate transmission, Nexon remains a place where the circus is constantly reinventing itself. 🎪
BUT WHY AN “S”?
In 2007, Les Arts à la Rencontre du Cirque became Le Sirque.
This acrobatic, twisting “S” symbolises the contemporary circus in all its diversity and multiplicity. But that’s not all! Sirque is also a happy anagram: have fun mixing its letters and you’ll get the word risk. Isn’t it by taking risks on stage that the artist best conveys his message and emotion? 🎭
