Where can I buy Limousin meat?

I’m on holiday and want to bring home some Limousin meat. Where can I buy it? Ajouter aux favoris

Are you on holiday with us and already hooked on the incomparable taste of Limousin meat? We understand. Here, the cow is not just an animal, it’s an institution! Label rouge, authentic taste and pride of place… So, naturally, before you leave, you’ll want to take some home in your suitcases (or rather in a cool box!). Here’s some good news: we’ve put together a list of the best places to buy meat from Limousin and take home a tasty souvenir 😋🥩
At a glance

1. Ferme de Belleprade, a taste of the real thing.

Champnétery

Here, we do things right, the old-fashioned way. Ferme de Belleprade, near the town of Saint-Léonard, breeds Limousin cows and calves, as well as free-range pigs, to produce exceptional meat.

On the menu: fresh meat (beef, veal, pork), home-cooked charcuterie (crickets, terrine, white ham) and even dried or smoked charcuterie (sausages, smoked bacon). Everything is guaranteed free from colourings, preservatives and nitrite salts: just good, real, tasty stuff! 🥩✨

A must if you want to take home a piece of Limousin to enjoy with family and friends.

2. Ferme de la vallée de la Brame, farmhouse taste without the fuss.

Oradour-Saint-Genest

At the home of Myriam and Geoffroy Hatet, near Bellac, pigs and lambs are reared with respect, and the cereals used to feed them are even grown. The result? Tasty, healthy meat, available as home-made charcuterie, fresh meat, ready-made meals and preserves. All without any chemical additives: no preservatives, stabilisers, antioxidants or thickeners. In short, there’s no cheating here: only the real thing, the good stuff and the farmhouse stuff. 🐖🐑

A note for foodies: lamb is only produced from June to September. So it’s a seasonal nugget not to be missed if you’re in the area at that time!

3. GAEC Lavergne, a farm with taste and heart

Saint-Anne-Saint-Priest

In the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional de Millevaches, a young couple raise a herd of Limousin cows with passion. Here, everything exudes authenticity: a village, a family, happy animals… and at the end of the day, meat with character. 🐂

You can order parcels of 5 or 10 kg of fresh meat, with the option of adding a few retail cuts. And if you’re coming in the summer, get ready for the barbecue: plain beef sausages, with Provençal herbs, merguez-style or a special grilled meat parcel!

4. La Ferme de la Besse - Local produce in the inn

Les Billanges

Want to taste Limousin meat straight from the farm? La Ferme de la Besse, near Lake Vassivière, is more than just a place to buy: it’s a real experience! Here, you sit down to dinner in a cosy inn, enjoy home-made products cooked with love, and enjoy the peace and quiet of the rural setting. 🥩🍷

And if you fall under the spell of the place (which is very likely to happen), there’s no need to leave too quickly: guest rooms and a gîte are there to extend the pleasure, whether for one night or a longer stay. A perfect address for a family meal, a gourmet stopover or simply to taste real Limousin cuisine at its source.

5. Ferme de Beauregard, the art of local produce.

Limoges & Saint-Priest-sous-Aixe

Since 1977, near Aixe sur Vienne, Martine and Bernard Picat have been cultivating the art of duck foie gras. Here, everything is mastered: free-range rearing, whole-corn feed, traditional processing… The result? An exceptional foie gras, authentic and respectful of real family know-how 🦆✨

But the farm doesn’t stop there! On site or at the markets, you’ll also find a fine range of by-products: confits, rillettes, ready-made dishes, not forgetting ready-to-cook farmhouse poultry such as guinea fowl or capons for special occasions.

You can find their specialities at the markets (Isle, Bosmie-l’Aiguille, Panazol…) or directly at the Halles Centrales in Limoges, where their stalls are overflowing with irresistible delicacies: medal-winning duck breast, foie gras sausage, figs with foie gras… all in the short supply chain we love! 🥩
