An unknown mountain
Yes! Puy Lagarde is higher than Mont Gargan, which reaches 731 meters. However, it’s less known, unlike Mont Gargan, which has a special history, notably its battle, where the German army and the maquisards clashed on the heights of this emblematic site.
Not far from there, another of Haute-Vienne’s highest mountains, the 777-metre-high Puy de Crozat, overlooks Lac de Vassivière, one of France’s largest man-made lakes, where you can enjoy water sports such as canoeing and sailing.
