1. In the Limousin countryside
4.2 km: "En passant par la Gouzonnie" at St-Genest-sur-RoselleYou’ll love this simple yet charming walk. Authentic Limousin landscapes and buildings punctuate this tour. A village, a panorama, an ancient Roman road, a view of Mirabeau’s house, a mill… are all subjects for discussion or discovery to be shared with the whole family.
A very easy one-hour loop in the Briance valley, take the time to breathe in the country air with your children!
2. On an island!
1.6 km or 4.8 km: Interpretation trail or tour of Navière island in ChaillacAn island – the largest on the Vienne – is a great way to get to know the natural environment.
The interpretation trail is short and fun. Small markers reveal the island’s treasures and punctuate the walk to discover Navière Island’s human and natural heritage.
The 4.8 km tour of the island will allow you to get the most out of the place, and discover its surprisingly well-preserved flora and fauna. For example, the island is home to the largest population of the Agrion de Mercure, a small dragonfly that is rare in Europe… A must-do walk for your budding explorers!

25 min from Limoges. Take the RD941 towards Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat. In Royères, turn left at the traffic lights onto the RD124, pass through the village of Saint-Antoine and arrive at Brignac station.
3. From station to mill
4.2 km: trail from Brignac to RoyèresOn this flat, shady trail, starting from the old railway station in Brignac, you’ll walk along the banks of the Vienne, enjoying its flora and fauna. Remains of mills provide an opportunity to discover or recount the history of Limousin millers and papermakers.
At the end of the trail, a visit to the Moulin du Got will keep you up to date on the subject! The walk will be all the more fun, and your children will be delighted on the way home. Take your time and plan a picnic break for the whole family to enjoy 😉
4. For nature lovers
6 km: tour of the Etang de la Pouge in St-AuventA nature walk par excellence, the path around the Etang de la Pouge invites you to observe the birds. A Natura 2000 site, discover its unsuspected riches with your children, thanks to information panels.
The ornithological observatory and pretty viewpoints are sure to please the whole family. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars, as the grey heron may well give you a memorable flight demonstration 😉

40 min from Limoges, take the RN21 towards Châlus. In Séreilhac, turn right onto the RD34. Drive through the village of Saint-Laurent-sur-Gorre towards Rochechouart, then 2.5 km further on, turn right onto the RD58 towards Saint-Auvent.

10 min from Limoges. Take the A20 towards Toulouse. Take exit 34 and follow the RD941 towards Panazol, Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat.
5. Along the creek
4.2 km: Auzette banks circuit in PanazolJust 10 minutes from Limoges, the charming Auzette valley at Panazol is the ideal place for a family hike along the water’s edge. The whole section of the circuit along the banks of the pretty stream is shaded, for refreshing moments in fine weather.
Small stone bridges, farms, nature: the route is easy, fun and pretty. Take a break for a snack at the Morpiénas leisure area: a sure bet for you and your children!
6. In a crater!
2 km: astroblème trail in RochechouartThe astroblème trail reveals the secrets of the Limousin’s only crater! The story of a meteorite impact, the landscape shaped by erosion, clues to find, wildlife to discover… This easy tour will be instructive and original.
The tours start at the entrance to the château’s avenues… one of the visits you can make on site before or after your family outing 😉

7. Across the bog
5 km: Dauges peat bog at St-Léger-La-MontagneThe Dauges peat bog? This protected natural environment is home to over 1,900 species, some of them very rare, in the heart of a veritable plant palette. In summer, borrow a digital guide (GPS) from the Maison de la Réserve to discover with your family all the magical powers of peat: natural carbon storage (a hot topic 😉 ), giant water filter (a real sponge!), living memory of plant and animal species, etc.
Lizards, ash heather, beetles, drosera (a carnivorous plant!) and other must-see species will be on your way, with a choice of two 5 or 2 km circuits.

8. Between the rocks
6.3 km: Sentier des feutrières in Saint-JunienAlong the Glane, this shady trail between Moulin Brice and Moulin de Rochebrune is easy: it’s all flat!
The Corot site is also a preserved natural area, with panels to satisfy the most inquisitive visitors and provide information on the fauna, flora and local industrial history.
On site, extend your walk with the 6.3 km Feutrières trail, or go on a Terra Aventura treasure hunt.
Whatever you choose, one thing your kids will love (and you too 😉 ) on this walk: the huge rocks to climb on or take a break at height!
