The castle park
Nexon🌳 If you’re in Nexon itself, don’t look far! From the town center, you can easily access the park adjoining the château, a veritable lung in the heart of the town. Once private, it’s now accessible all year round, allowing you to stroll through flower-scented alleys in spring, enjoy shades of green in summer, oranges in autumn and the benefits of winter freshness.
This lovely park, created in the mid-19th century and listed as a historic monument, extends over 38.5 hectares. But don’t panic, it’s possible to take a short stroll of one or two hours, without getting lost! Just follow the path. The entire park is enclosed by a stone wall, which you can walk along, and various elements punctuate your stroll: English river, waterfall, pond, miraculous rocks with curious legends… At the bend of a long driveway, you can also discover the park’s chapel, the only privately-owned feature, still belonging to the Gay De Nexon family, former owners of the site. Only open to pedestrians and riders (your pooches are welcome too, but on a leash), you’ll be impressed by the château at the entrance and the majestic stables. A veritable jewel case of greenery, the Château de Nexon park is the ideal place for a stroll combining discovery and tranquillity.
Le Jardin des Sens
NexonA citizen’s garden, a real “bridge between generations”, the Jardin des Sens is located between the schools and the retirement home, in the grounds of the château. Its aim is to pass on the knowledge of our elders to awaken the senses of our younger visitors: 👂🏼 hearing with the bamboo labyrinth where the breath of air invents melodies, 🫳🏻 touch with the bark garden where some thirty “special” trees quiver under caresses, 👄 taste, with the orchard where old varieties stand alongside a small collection of hazelnut trees, 👃🏻 smell, with the scent tunnel featuring plants with unusual scents (chocolate, pineapple, peanut…), 👁️ the sight with a rainbow of perennials. Awaken your senses and be sure to discover this little nugget in the heart of Nexon.
⌛ Allow around an hour for the walk, to take the time to look, smell, touch, taste and listen.

Here, benches and picnic tables invite you to sit back and contemplate the water and the calm surrounding landscape. It’s not uncommon to come across a few passionate fishermen, who are happy to exchange a few words with walkers curious about their practice. You can also take advantage of the small promontory, where you can often see a few fish swimming by. In summer, more holidaymakers come to enjoy the peace and quiet of our lovely countryside, since the La Lande campsite is just a stone’s throw from the lake. 💦
