A change of scenery is guaranteed in this setting that looks like a little Canada!

Allocate around 6 hours for a leisurely stroll with your horse.

2. The

from Meuzac

Enjoy a friendly ride with your horse through the unspoilt countryside of the southern Haute-Vienne on the “Entre Puys et Landes” trail, starting in Meuzac. A host of views over the countryside, the Limousin forest, livestock farming and the Limousin bocage await you: cross wooded massifs, streams, clearings and meadows, wind through the forest or along sunken dirt tracks, skirt a few ponds and bodies of water, discover villages with typical Limousin dwellings and barns, pass near an old gold-mining site, a mill, the remains of a chapel, etc. In short! You’ll have realised that this walk is well worth the diversions!

3. The quarry trail

from Nexon

Set between ponds and moorland, this route will take you on a tour of all Nexon has to offer: the Sirque, the Château, its park, chapel and waterfall, the stud farm, the surrounding forest and the many ponds, including the Lande pond. You can also explore the quarries and small villages of Saint-Hilaire and Le Puy along the way. Follow the orange markings and set off (lasso?) into peaceful countryside to find yourself in communion with your animal. The ride lasts between 1? and 4 hours, depending on the rider’s pace.

4. The pond path

from Marval-Milhaguet

In need of water and fresh air? In the shade of the trees, on the charming little “sentier des étangs”, set off for a 2? hour ride on horseback to discover the many typical villages of the south-western Haute-Vienne. Reindeer in hand, you’ll ride alongside the pleasant Got and Puy Chevalier ponds and through the beautiful and refreshing Puy Chevalier forest.

5. Tour du Mont Gargan

from the Noailhas lake at La Croisille-sur-Briance

The “Tour du mont Gargan” trail at La Croisille-sur-Briance offers walkers the chance to discover a protected natural area. From the summit of Mont Gargan (731m), one of the highest peaks in the Haute-Vienne, you can enjoy a vast panorama of the Limousin mountains and the Monédières…. Mont Gargan was the scene of intense fighting between Colonel Guingouin’s maquisards and the German army during the 1939-1945 war.

Hilly terrain ideal for horse riding.
