Natura 2000 site - Protected area.
Situated on the edge of the circumlacustrine road, straddling the communes of Peyrat-le-Château and Beaumont-du-Lac, the Bois de Crozat is the highest point in Haute-Vienne (777m). Forested with oak and beech, this massif overlooks Lac de Vassivière. An important landscape unit of great visual and heritage quality, the Bois de Crozat is unique for the extent of its deciduous ecosystem, in an environment now dominated by coniferous trees.
